Bike, Hike & Adventure Tour

Rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (only $10 per hour) at Spring Lake Park as you paddle around the 230-acre spring-fed lake.

Hike or mountain bike Fox Trail, a 4-mile multi-use loop trail adjacent to the lake.

Stay at the Hickory Grove Farm Bed & Breakfast. The family-owned farm raises hogs, sheep, goats, and chickens and will soon offer a high quality, down-to-earth stay in Unforgettable Forgottonia.

If you’re into camping, you can rent a campsite or cabin during the summer months. Some of the campsites and cabins come with a view of the lake.

Argyle Lake State Park is a 1,700-acre park with 5 miles of hiking and mountain bike trails, and a 93-acre lake at its center. Get there by bike – 45 minutes (7-mile) west of downtown Macomb.

Take your pick of 20 wooded campsites. The Twisted Oak campground contains 86 modern campsites. The Big Oaks campground contains 24 (electric only) and 18 modern campsites.

Everwood Disc Golf Course offers beautiful scenery throughout a variety of holes that start tight with a moderate covering of mature trees and change in relief and obstacles, finishing with long challenging open holes making it the perfect setting for Macomb’s annual YFC Open Pro-Am Disc Golf Tournament.

Visit Lakeview Nature Area, a protected, 80-acres prairie, wetland, and woodland ecosystem featuring 55 acres of restored tallgrass prairie including native grasses, forms and wildflowers.

Macomb’s Lakeview Nature Center also boasts the nation’s largest seven circuit Prairie Labyrinth. The labyrinth, which is created within and from the surrounding natural prairie vegetation, is open to the public from dawn to dusk 365 days a year and provides community outreach through guided and unguided labyrinth walks, support groups, workshops and an annual spring wellness event.

Immerse yourself in an over 150-year-old Oak Hickory Forest at the Macomb Park District‘s Glenwood Park. Set up a picnic, walk the natural greenspace, or host a group BBQ at the Glenwood Stone Shelter.

Relax in 30 acres of natural greenspace at Everly Park and sit beside Everly Pond, a 2-acre stocked fish pond in the heart of the park.

Stroll and explore historic Chandler Park. Established 1893, the historic park sits at the heart of Macomb, in the center of McDonough County. Original brick sidewalks, an iconic gazebo, and century-old trees make this scenic park worthwhile to explore.
